Jennifer Smith Receives Award

New River Community Action CEO Jennifer Smith has received an Impact Award: Person of Distinction from United Way of Southwest Virginia. This award recognizes and applauds the remarkable achievements of individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, dedication, and innovation in their fields throughout our region.

As the newly appointed CEO, Jennifer brings a wealth of experience, unwavering passion, and a lifelong commitment to community service. From her beginnings in a rural farming family, to serving her country in the U.S. Navy, to founding transformative programs for individuals with disabilities, Jennifer has continually dedicated herself to uplifting underserved populations.

Her strategic leadership, compassion-driven mission, and deep understanding of nonprofit development make her an inspiring figure and a true champion for families in the New River Valley.

Who we are

The Virginia Community Action Partnership and the Virginia Office of Economic Opportunity works together to provide all Virginia Community Action Agencies with the training and technical assistance needed to be successful. We aim to provide training for all levels of staff at an agency and board members.
