Monticello Area Community Action Agency Names Interim Executive Director

John W. Edwards, Jr., has been named Interim Executive Director for the Monticello Area Community Action Agency. John is an organizational, executive and personal leadership development consultant and certified life coach spanning a 21-year career of effective consulting service. He was formerly the Executive Director of Northeast Florida Community Action Agency, Inc. (NFCAA) in Jacksonville, Fl.

John is also the Past Chair of the board of directors of Community Action Partnership of Washington, DC and the past President of the Florida Association for Community Action (FACA). He also served as past Co-Chairman of the Jacksonville Living Wage Coalition and the Past Chair of the Emergency Services and Homeless Coalition of Jacksonville, Inc.

Additionally, John is a national Peer-Peer ROMA Master Trainer, former Pathways Reviewer for the Community Action Standards of Excellence and a Certified Community Action Professional. He consults with community action agencies and other networks nationally. In 2013, Edwards was elected the inaugural President of the Association of National Certified ROMA Trainers (ANCRT) and was re-elected as President from October 2015 – December 2018.

John brings with him a broad background and knowledge in Planning, Program Policy Administration, Organizational Planning, Management Principles and Administration, Administrative Services Management, Budget Preparation and Control, Cost Accounting Principles Contract Management, and Managing and Leading People. Edwards is a leadership, board of directors, management, and organizational problem-solving consultant with a track record of effectiveness

Edwards has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology (Bethune Cookman University) and a master’s degree in public administration (University of North Florida). He is a graduate of the Management Institute of the University of Alabama. Edwards has completed numerous certified training sessions prior and after his graduate schoolwork.
